Mask and Shadow is the first solo exhibition in Italy since 1974 of British artist John Stezaker, born in 1943, who lives and works in London, entitled MASK AND SHADOW, in which his photo-collage works from 1976 to the present day are exhibited. Stezaker’s collages have been the subject of numerous retrospectives and group exhibitions in various museum institutions and European and American galleries. Last year, his works were included in the highly successful group show Unmonumental at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in NY, curated by Massimiliano Gioni and at GAK – Gesellschaft Aktuelle Kunst in Bremen, Germany. Some works of great artistic value are on display until February 2009 at the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo in Brescia as part of the exhibition ‘CAPOLAVORI IN CORSO’.
