Jack-high straight flush

The exhibition, entitled Jack-high straight flush, features 27 works from the most recent production of the young artist Luc Ming Yan, based in Dijon. The title of the solo show, Jack-high straight flush, borrows from an expression used in poker and refers to a very lucky hand of cards, meaning that it is unnecessary to bluff. The game of poker calls for choices, decisions, luck and misfortune. Just like in poker, also in painting, there is an element of chance, the suite coloreé, which, according to the artist, refers to the logic of the colour scale.

The main interest of the artist, who defines himself as a colourist, is indeed his colour research. This research is developed in various directions, using a range of different formats and working from abstraction to figuration to imagination, always through groups of works, some of which are developed simultaneously.
