Varda Caivano (b. 1971, Argentina) lives and works in London, UK. She graduated from the Royal College of Art, London, United Kingdom (2004). Caivano’s work strikes a subtle balance between the materiality of paint and its emotional and figurative resonances, her deftly composed, gestural forms both irreducible and infinitely evocative. We can view her work in procedural terms, for there is always a palpable, enlivening sense of the artist making decisions or changing course, deflecting quick resolutions or alighting on a spontaneity that leads to new possible outcomes in her painting.
In 2013, a presentation of paintings throughout Caivano’s practice was included in The Encyclopedic Palace, Venice Biennale, selected by curator Massimiliano Gioni.
Caivano’s work is included in several public collections, such as the British Council Collection, UK; the National Museum of Art, Osaka, Japan; Zabludowicz Collection, London, UK; and The Taguchi Art Collection.
